The OSAJ Members’ Tour for “Salone del Gusto” in Torino and North Italy was organized during October 22nd – 29th.  The Tour was visiting not only the “Salone del Gusto”, but also was visiting to the BAROLO and BARBARESCO wine Cantina and White Truffle in ALBA.  The tour members enjoyed excellent wines, north Italian “Slow Food” and white truffle, it seemed almost like a “GroumetTour” ! For the creation of new global standards for the outstanding extra virgin olive oil, The Olive Oil Sommelier Association of JAPAN (OSAJ) cooperates with the Australia Olive Association(AOA), the California Olive Oil Committee(COOC) and several superior olive oil producers in Spain, Italy and other countries. Recently, the OSAJ invited Mr. Paul Miller, President of the Australian Olive Association(AOA) to visit Shodoshima island, which is a place of production of the olive representing Japan, and had a productive meetng with Mr. Shiota, Mayor of Shodoshima town. The famous olive industrial magazine in Spain “MERCACEi” (Director: Mr. Juan A. Panemil) put the article of OLIVE JAPAN 2013 will be held in Tokyo, in April 2013. The OLIVE JAPAN International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition, which is the only international olive oil competition held in Japan, OLIVE MARCHE and “OLIVE SUMMIT – Symposium”  will be scheduled. The entry for the competition will start in November and the applications for the Marche exhibition will also publish in November. We, the Olive Oil Sommelier Association of Japan (OSAJ) are pleased to annouce our new opening English language website. Please kindly note our Association is completely dual language entity and for almost all of our activities we can provide both Japanese and English language services; however, the most of our educational programs including OLIVE OIL SOMMELIER SCHOOL are offered only in Japanese language.     

An Australian well-known industrial Journal “OLIVE GROWER & PROCESSOR”  introduced numbers of entries from Australia and New Zealand won Awards at OLIVE JAPAN 2012.    The OLIVE JAPAN 2012 International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition was the first International EVOO Competition  held in April 2012 in Tokyo.  Australian and New Zealand products won total 10 medals of 96 winners, which was really successful for Australian and New Zealand growers, said by OGP Journal. TERRAOLIVO Mediterranean International Olive Oil Competition held in June 2012 in Israel.  This Year is the 3rd year for TERRAOLIVO, the compettion entry number was jumping up to 408 from 150 entries in 2009. Toshiya Tada, Chairman of the OSAJ was nominated as a juror for this competition from 2011 and this year, total over 20 jurors invited from glove.
